NISS/SAMSI University Affiliates Program
Update: October, 2003
1. DATA CONFIDENTIALITY TECHNOLOGY DAY, to be held in Washington on Thursday,
November 20, 2003. The location will be announced shortly. In part, this
technology day is a report on recent research under the NISS digital government
project "Data Confidentiality, Data Quality and Data Integration for
Federal Databases: Foundations to Software Prototypes" to our partner
federal agencies: the BLS, BTS, Census, NASS and NCES.
The planned presentations:
- Introduction and Overview: Alan Karr, NISS
- Data Swapping Toolkit: Ashish Sanil, NISS
- Tabular Data (focusing in released marginals): Aleksandra Slavkovic, Carnegie Mellon University
- Perturbation Methods: Steve Roehrig, Carnegie Mellon University
- Regression Servers: Jerome Reiter, Duke University
- Privacy Preserving Regressions: Alan Karr
- Future Plans: Alan Karr
Space is likely to be VERY LIMITED. Those from affiliates other than the partner agencies who are interested in attending should send E-mail to me as soon as possible.
2. STATISTICAL COMPUTING INFRASTRUCTURE WORKSHOP.
On December 9, NISS will hold a small workshop on the statistical computing
infrastructure of the future. In part, the workshop will contemplate a response
to a potential call for cyberinfrastructure arising from the "Adkins
report" _Revolutionizing Science and Engineering Through Cyberinfrastructure:Report
of the National Science Foundation Blue-Ribbon Advisory Panel on Cyberinfrastructure_,
which is available at

A larger, Affiliates-sponsored event is a likely follow-up.
