Workshop on
Collaborations in the Mathematical Geosciences
October 6 - 7, 2005

NISS and the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI) are co-hosting a two-day workshop on research issues lying at the interface of the mathematical and statistical sciences and the geosciences. Many of these issues would relate strongly to themes of the NSF program on Collaboration in Mathematical Geosciences (CMG)
The workshop will emphasize:
The anticipated outcomes of the workshop include sharper identification of research issues and approaches at the interface of the mathematical and statistical sciences and the geosciences and new collaborations to address the issues.
The workshop will be held at the Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park in Research Triangle Park, NC. Support will be available for travel expenses.

Housing
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park. The deadline is SEPTEMBER 15 to make your reservation at the special rate of $74 single/$84 double.

Since many participants are staying at the Hawthorne Suites,
transportation to the Radisson will be provided by Carolina Livery.
Each morning a shuttle will depart the Hawthorne for the Radisson at 7:45am
and 8:15am.
THURSDAY EVENING: The shuttle will depart the Radisson for the Hawthorne at
7:15pm, 7:45pm and 8:30pm.
FRIDAY EVENING: The shuttle will depart the Radisson for the Hawthorne at
4:30pm and 5:00pm.
If you miss the last shuttle on either morning or evening, please see a hotel
representative at the front desk to arrange alternate transport.
