Project Update - September, 2000

1. GEOGRAPHICAL AGGREGATION. A version of the NASS prototype is complete, and is accessible at niss.cnidr.org. (Please understand that it is being worked on, and may be either inaccessible or broken at times.) The prototype will be demonstrated at the October 17 briefing.

2. PUBLICATIONS

• The paper "Optimal disclosure limitation in statistical databases: Deterring tracker attacks through additive noise," by G. T. Duncan and S. Mukherjee, has appeared: JASA 95 (2000) 720-729.
  
  
• The paper "Disseminating Information but Protecting Confidentiality," by Alan Karr, Jaeyong Lee and Ashish Sanil of NISS and Joel Hernandez, Sousan Karimi and Karen Litwin of MCNC, has been accepted for publication in the February, 2001, digital government special issue of IEEE Computer Magazine. It is available at www.niss.org/dg/technicalreports.html.
  
  
• The entry "Confidentiality and Statistical Disclosure Limitation," by George T. Duncan, will appear in the International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences.
