2. NISSWebSwap v1.1. The new version of NISSWebSwap, a Web service for data swapping, was released in January. The principal improvement is a graphical user interface implemented by NISS intern Chunhua "Charlie" Liu. To download NISSWebSwap, go to

3. DATA SWAPPING TOOL KIT. NISS plans to complete development of a Data Swapping Toolkit by the end of the summer. Principal components will be:

- A version of the swapping software employed by NISSWebSwap that runs on the user's own machine

- Graphical user interface for individual runs of the swapper

- Modules for computation of disclosure risk and data distortion

- Scripts that automate larger-scale investigations, such as multiple swapping rates and multiple choices of swapping attributes

- Visualization tool for analyzing output from such large-scale investigations

4. NAS PANEL. George Duncan has been appointed to a new National Academy of Sciences panel on Research Access to Data through the Committee on National Statistics and sponsored by the National Institute on Aging.
