4. OTHER NEWS

Alessandro Rinaldo successfully presented his Ph.D. proposal, "Maximum Likelihood Estimates in Large Sparse Contingency Tables," to the Department of Statistics, Carnegie Mellon University on June 29, 2004. This is part of ongoing project work on disclosure limitation methods for contingency tables.
Stephen E. Fienberg was recently elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and will be officially inducted at a ceremony in November, 2004.
