EIA Data Protection Policy

Use of EIA restricted databases must conform to the EIA Data Protection Policy. Note that all articles resulting from use of sensitive microdata require review and prior approval by EIA before submission for publication.

EIA Data Protection Policy

Once a research proposal is approved, the EIA will allow the researcher restricted access to non-public micro data files to carry out the research project. The research work must be performed at EIA’s secure Headquarter’s facility. To the extent that the work under this proposal requires that the researcher be given access to sensitive, confidential, or proprietary, technical, or financial information that was reported to EIA, the researcher shall protect said information and agrees not to appropriate such information for their own use or to disclose such information to third parties unless specifically authorized by EIA. Researchers are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement with EIA prior to accessing any sensitive or confidential information. Researchers need to bind themselves in writing to protect the information and agree, as an agent of EIA, to subject themselves to the relevant federal confidentiality laws and their related penalties for violating the nondisclosure agreement. All research output must be reviewed for disclosure of sensitive or confidential information before it can be released for use outside of the EIA.
