Welcome to the Web site of the National Institute of Statistical Sciences. NISS was established in 1991 by the national statistics societies and the Research Triangle universities and organizations, with the mission to identify, catalyze and foster high-impact, cross-disciplinary research involving the statistical sciences. Our principal activities are research projects in such areas as information technology, transportation, environment and computer model evaluation, workshops, programs for postdoctoral fellows and visitors and collaboration with industrial, government and university affiliates.
