The research analyst will be located at the primary NESSI site in Washington, DC, in close proximity to, and interacting strongly with, NESSI's client, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). He or she will report to both the Director of NISS and the AIR/NESSI project leader.
The research analyst will be responsible for leading division- and center-level reviews of NAEP publications, including the NAEP Report Card, as well as other NCES publications. He or she will also participate in projects involving monitoring timeliness and overall quality of NCES data collections and producing reports on data quality. Familiarity, prior or acquired, with technical content of NAEP assessments, NAEP guidelines and NCES statistical standards is essential. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in statistics, survey methodology or a substantive social science such as psychometrics is required. Experience presenting complex, quantitative information to diverse audiences is highly desirable.
The position requires strong communication, research and data analysis skills, and knowledge of statistical computing software (SPSS or SAS).
