BACKGROUND
The NISS New Researcher Fellowships were created by the Board of Trustees in 2006 to allow new researchers to come to NISS in order to explore and become deeply engaged in high-impact cross-disciplinary research. The resulting collaborations will lead to publications, conference presentations and, very importantly, follow-on proposals. Each Fellow joins an ongoing NISS project, starting with a one-month or longer visit to NISS. Awards consist of one month of salary and, as well as travel and living expenses for the visit to NISS.
Fellowship recipients for 2006-07 were introduced at the NISS/SAMSI Reception at JSM in Seattle. They are Sherry Wang, Department of Statistical Science, Southern Methodist University, and Scott Holan, Department of Statistics, University of Missouri.
