NISS and the four statistics departments in the Research Triangle Area of North Carolina announce the availability of joint Visiting appointments.
Participants in the program are expected to divide their time between NISS and one of the Departments or its affiliated Centers. Beyond involvement with NISS and the Departments, the Research Triangle universities, laboratories and industrial units offer unusual opportunities for statistical scientists to engage in novel interactions that capitalize on a wide spectrum of scientific activities.
Participation at NISS will involve working with ongoing or prospective NISS research projects for example. in transportation, software development, drug design, environment, education and large data sets. Departmental participation can range from teaching to involvement in ongoing research activities for example, Bayesian methods in medical imaging, neuroscience, and health policy; stochastic differential equations in economics and finance; and atmospheric science.
Visitors for extended periods (one semester or longer) may obtain partial support through NISS projects and through part-time teaching at the Universities. Arrangements for shorter visits will be made on a case-by-case basis.
A biweekly seminar series at NISS will draw together the multiplicity of activities and offer views of Triangle-based research, as well as interests related to NISS projects in other parts of the nation.
Applications or interest should include a biographical sketch (cv) and identified preferences in research areas and departments and should be sent by at least one of the following:

Decisions, invitations and appointments will be made on a rolling basis by a committee of NISS and Departmental representatives. Selection of Visitors and Postdoctoral Fellows will favor creation or extension of group-level, rather than individual, activities.
