Position 1:  Assistant Professor - Tenure Track - Health Disparities

Description: The Department of Statistics seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor with interest in research on health disparities. For research, the ideal candidate will have expertise that allows them to identify and address the sharp differences in health care access and outcomes that exist, for example--across groups based on race, education, and employment/poverty. As examples, this may entail expertise in working with large, complex data structures (e.g., images, text) found in electronic health records, the use of observational data to assess causality, meta-analysis, or algorithmic approaches suited to big data. The ideal candidate will be committed to developing and delivering courses at the undergraduate and graduate level related to their research areas as well as to teaching core courses in the department.

Qualifications: A PhD in Statistics or a related field by the start of employment is required. Appointment is contingent on the university's verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.

Position 2:  Assistant Professor - Tenure Track - Statistical Learning

Description: The Department of Statistics seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor with research interest in statistical learning. For research, a successful candidate will have expertise in statistical approaches to broadly defined areas of machine learning, data science and artificial intelligence. Topics of interest include (but not limited to) algorithmic modeling with complex data, large-scale computation, theory for understanding algorithmic models and their evaluation and related applications. Commitments to methodological research and scientific collaboration are expected. For teaching, we seek an individual who is committed to the development and delivery of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
