Tenure-Track Faculty Position - Penn State University

The Department of Statistics at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for one or more open-rank tenure-track positions. The Department is part of the Eberly College of Science at Penn State, which accounts for over one hundred million dollars of research expenditures annually. A conservative analysis of the most recent National Research Council (NRC) data for basic science programs at research universities in the United States places Penn State Science clearly among the top ten. The Department of Statistics itself has over 25 tenure-line faculty members and around 40 faculty members total, engaged in a wide variety of teaching and research. Our research activity is both theoretical and applied, with collaborative ties to other departments in the College of Science (e.g., Biology and Astronomy) as well as other colleges across the university (e.g., Earth and Mineral Sciences, Engineering, Health and Human Development, and Medicine). We have strong ties with several Penn State Institutes (e.g., the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences, Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment, and the Institute for Cyberscience) that support and facilitate interdisciplinary research. The University has also launched a multi-college data sciences degree program supporting positions in Statistics and other departments.

Penn State is located in the center of Pennsylvania, in a valley surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and state forestland. The adjoining town of State College combines many amenities typically found in large metropolitan areas with the benefits of a university town, boasting a highly educated population and excellent schools and services.
