Questionnaires are distributed after the hunting season to a simple random sample of persons who purchased permits to hunt wild turkey during the spring season. For the 1996 turkey hunting season 95,801 persons purchased hunting permits. From these individuals a simple random sample of 6,999 hunters were selected for the survey and 5,005 of these responded.
