University of Pennsylvania, Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (DBE) was created in 1994. Its primary objectives are to provide: 1) an academic home for biostatisticians and non-clinician epidemiologists and 2) an academic structure to support primary research in biostatistics and epidemiology.

Members of the biostatistics faculty lead research that develops novel statistical-methods approaches to meet complex data challenges across many domains. And they contribute as team scientists to investigations across many disciplines.

Members of the epidemiology faculty employ many different avenues to discover, implement and disseminate novel methods that stand to improve the health of the public. They study a broad array of clinical and population-health issues.
