The Southern Regional Council on Statistics (SRCOS) is co-hosting the 53rd Summer Research Conference (SRC) this year from Sunday, June 4th - Wednesday, June 7th at the Villas by the Sea Resort, Jekyll Island, GA. The SRC brings together leading researchers, faculty and students in a dynamic, interactive and learning environment. Sponsors of the conference include ASA, NSF and NISS. On-line registration is available through the site. Early registration ends on May 1st. After that date, registration fees increase by $50.00 ($25.00 for students).
Program co-chairs Amanda Hering of Baylor University and Qin Long of The University of Pennsylvania and Emory University have lined up a stimulating program. Featured keynote speakers are Marc Genton from King Abdullah University of Science and Marina Vannucci of Rice University. The education session features Chris Franklin of the ASA, formerly University of Georgia, and Mine Cetinkaya-Rundel, Duke University. This year's banquet speaker is Lance Waller of Emory University. As in years past, the SRC will be hosting two poster sessions: the NSF/Anderson Student Poster Competition and the ASAS/Kutner Faculty Poster Session. In addition to funds from SRCOS, funds from the ASA and NSF available to help partially support graduate students who participate in the NSF/Anderson Student Poster Competition and for junior or isolated faculty presenting posters in the ASA/Kutner Faculty Poster Session. For both poster sessions, registration and application deadlines for partial financial support is April 20st. More information about these two sessions is available on the conference web site.
To receive the conference rate at the Villas by the Sea Resort, reservations must be made by May 5th. Jekyll Island is one of Georgia’s coastal barrier islands that form the Golden Isles. It is a retreat emphasizing history and conservation. More information is available on the conference web site.
