All Writing Workshop Dates:
TO PARTICIPANTS OF DAY 1 & 2 OF THE WRITING WORKSHOP:
Please note that Day 3 is not required for those participating in the 2-days of the Writing Workshop in order to receive your Certificate of Completion for the Writing Workshop (we know not everyone plans to attend JSM in-person). If you are attending JSM and participated in the 2-days of the Writing Workshop, you are automatically registered for this Short Course and do not have to pay another fee. You do not need to re-register. Again, not attending Day 3 does not effect course completion. Course completion is considered the completion of both Fridays, July 18 & 25, only.
TO JSM PARTICIPANTS THAT ARE NOT REGISTERED FOR THE WRITING WORKSHOP:
NISS Affiliates can register with a discount code. Please ask officeadmin@niss.org for the code.
Non-NISS Affiliates attending JSM are welcome to take the course. If you are ONLY interested in taking the short course and are not a NISS Affiliate, then click here to register (fee $70). (opening soon)
To everyone, the registration for the short course on ChatGPT will remain open up to the time of the start of the short course on Sunday, August 3. Once the doors close to start the class, the registration will close.
If you have any questions, please reach out to officeadmin@niss.org.
Short Course on Day 3
This short course introduces statisticians to the practical use of Generative AI tools (with focus on ChatGPT) to streamline and enhance the academic writing process. Designed for efficiency, the session walks participants through key applications of Gen-AI in research communication, including: generating manuscript outlines, summarizing existing papers, improving draft writing, and assisting with technical tasks such as LaTeX formatting and R scripting. The session will also briefly address common pitfalls and ethical considerations surrounding AI-assisted writing. No prior experience with AI tools is required.
