Dr. Huixia Judy Wang is Professor and Chair of the Department of Statistics, and William Marsh Rice Trustee Professor in Data Science at Rice University. Her research spans quantile regression, extreme value theory, high-dimensional inference, and applications in biostatistics, bioinformatics, and environmental health. She is particularly recognized for her contributions to quantile modeling in complex data settings, including censored, longitudinal, and spatial data. Dr. Wang received her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and held faculty positions at George Washington University before joining Rice.

A Fellow of both the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, Dr. Wang has received numerous honors, including an NSF CAREER award, the IMS Medallion Lecture, and election to the International Statistical Institute. She currently serves as Co-Editor of Statistica Sinica and has held associate editor roles for leading journals such as The Annals of Statistics, JASA, and Bernoulli. Through her editorial leadership, mentoring of graduate students, and service to the profession, Dr. Wang continues to shape the field of statistics both in theory and practice. See full profile
