Dr. Michael Last is an Applied Mathematical Researcher with the U.S. Government. He worked with NISS as a postdoc from 2005 to 2007, where he contributed to the creation of a model for predicting the spread of Food and Mouth Disease.

Prior to working with NISS, Dr. Last earned his M.A. in statistics from the University of California-Berkeley, and in 2005 he earned his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of California-Davis. His dissertation focused on the time series and on machine learning.
