How can an Academic Affiliate use the Affiliate Award Funds?
Affiliate Award Funds can be allocated by the Primary Affiliate Liaison to cover travel expenses to eligible events for individuals within their department and/or Affiliate Award Funds can be used to cover expenses to host events at the affiliate institution.
How are AAF Funds dispersed?
Each Primary Affiliate Liaison decides how their NISS Affiliate Award Funds are allocated within their individual department. Students and faculty must speak to or apply for their NISS Affiliate Award Funds through their Primary Affiliate Liaison.
Once approved through the Primary Affiliate Liaison, individuals can be reimbursed for the amount agreed upon with the Primary Liaison at your institution. See the Travel Reimbursement Forms & Policies page for specific instructions regarding reimbursement.

Locate your institution on the List of Affiliates page. Your Primary Affiliate Liaison contact will be listed on your Affiliate page.

How do I find out what the balance is for my institution's AAF?
The Affiliate Liaison can send an email to officeadmin@niss.org requesting the balance remaining in their AAF account.
What are the advantages of co-hosting or co-sponsoring an event with NISS?
There are a number of advantages to consider:
- Each NISS Affiliate Institution can use up to $1,000 from their Affiliate Award Fund for expenses involved in hosting an event.
- Information about your event is published on the NISS website and included in all NISS promotional materials.
- You can include information about NISS, including the NISS logo, on your event website and in your promotional materials.
- As a co-hosted or co-sponsored event, students or faculty from other NISS Affiliates can apply for AAF reimbursement to cover their travel to your event!
